Digital Pedagogy Lab is an entirely online, primarily asynchronous experience. Because the Lab is a global event, nearly all instruction and collaboration is facilitated through blog posts from faculty and/or fellows and use of the YellowDig discussion platform (in some cases, faculty may choose to use Slack). Occasionally, faculty may choose to offer synchronous meeting times via Zoom, but these are never required for participation in the Lab.
You should plan to spend 20+ hours on work, collaboration, and communication during the week of Digital Pedagogy Lab 2021 (August 2-6). However, because the Lab is taught asynchronously, and because we are well aware of the challenges of participation from home or office, you should participate as you are able. To encourage your participation, we recommend:
- Setting times during your schedule for the week as "away" or "busy" so that you can spend sustained time on reading, discussions, etc.
- Let your family, friends, roommates know you will be "at an event" all week, and that you require the freedom to be preoccupied.
- Get in touch with your track instructor(s) and let them know if you foresee any barriers to participation.
